Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is looking for a Manager Benefits and Employee Wellness to lead the team.

PSE has 3,200 employees and is self-insured. This role is responsible for managing the Benefits Team who provide company-wide benefit programs in health and wellness, leaves & accommodations, and retirement.

Responsible for PSE's benefit programs, including program design, policies, integration and practices. Coaches and guides HR professionals in all aspects of this benefits work, while insuring compliance with all related laws, company policies and ethics.

Participates as a member of the leadership team within Human Resources, and compensation and benefits. Identifies and implements process improvements that increase the efficiency and productivity of the team, as well as and leverage vendor resources and tools.

Job Responsibilities

Leads, develops and provides supervision of benefits program managers and the benefits team, including HR analysts and specialists.
Manages workload of assignments to ensure deadlines are met and that team members develop breadth of experience in multiple programs.

Participates in developing PSE’s coordinated compensation and benefits strategy so plans are aligned with corporate objectives, and are cost effective, competitive, and responsive to employee needs.
Oversees the development, implementation and administration of strategies related to health and welfare, employee wellness/wellbeing programs, leaves & accommodations, and retirement, accounting for market competitiveness, employee attraction and retention, inclusion and internal equity.

Operates as a member of the Compensation, Benefits and HR Operations leadership team and provides contributions to all areas as appropriate.
Ensures effective design and communications of all benefit plans, programs, tools and processes. Ensures legal compliance with all required documentation in partnership with legal counsel.

Develops and maintains systems and tools to enable employees to understand and select available benefits appropriate to their needs.
Works with labor relations and union representatives to insure that negotiators have accurate benefit data to conduct effective contract negotiations.

Networks with other employers and monitoring industry trends to evaluate existing PSE plans and costs to make recommendations for changes when appropriate.
Prepares and presents benefits data and making recommendations to senior management for effective decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors in human resources, business or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 8 years of direct experience in employee benefits.
Thorough experience in one or more of the three main Benefits areas—Health and Welfare, Leaves & Accommodations, or Retirement.

3 years of leading a benefit function and/or supervisory experience including team building and strategy development.
Excellent communications skills at all levels with the ability to present information in a professional manner. Effective relationship building and staff development skills.

Desired Qualifications

Thorough experience in two (or all three) main Benefits areas. Proven success in managing and developing benefits professionals. The CEBS certification (or in process of attaining).
