Manager, Compensation and Benefits

Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Manager, Compensation and Benefits fills a key role in managing compensation and benefits programs designed to attract top talent and retain valued employees. This role is responsible for administering compensation and benefits operations, including recommending policy and practice improvements in compliance with organizational objectives and government regulations. This position is responsible for compensation benchmarking and analysis, merit and incentive process, benefits programs and enrollment, leave administration, policy renewals, total rewards, employee wellness initiatives and HR System management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist HR Director and Chief HR Strategist in developing the strategic direction of the overall compensation and benefit plans and recommend revisions that are consistent with compensation trends, corporate objectives, and employee interests
  • Provide superior customer service and build professional working relationships with internal and external clients by promptly responding to questions and requests
  • Participates with benefit consultants/brokers and Director of Human Resources in evaluation of services, coverage, premiums, plan administration, and options to determine programs to meet needs of organization
  • Oversight of various Benefit Programs, including and not limited to Wellbeing, Rewards & Recognition and Commute Program
  • Oversight of 401k plan, including bi-weekly contributions, annual 401(k) audit, annual 5500 filing and quarterly 401k Committee participation
  • Support Benefits Administrator in managing leave of absence process (including and not limited to STD, LTD, FMLA, etc.)
  • Ensure that HR and Benefits policies and procedures are consistent with organizational needs, regulatory requirements, and positive employee relations
  • Review compensation surveys, analyze competitive market data and develop recommendations for updates to job architecture, salary structures and bonus targets as appropriate; propose salary increase budgets
  • Provide external market analysis by retrieving data for each specific market area, as well as managing internal market analysis and providing subsequent compensation recommendations
  • Work with the HR Team to administer, process, and record compensation activities
  • Complete annual submission for salary survey data
  • Research and keep abreast of compliance related topics including 5500s, SPDs, FLSA, ADA, ERISA, ACA, FMLA, etc.
  • Effectively manage current HR technology systems, payroll interface, applicant tracking, general HRIS, and performance development to ensure proper database management and maintain data integrity
  • Main point of contact for HR team for updating intranet built in SharePoint

  • Demonstrated record of being highly organized and able to meet deadlines. Strict adherence to confidentiality and high ethical standards. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work well under minimal supervision. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with Salary Surveys, Culpepper a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR management systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:          

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university in business or related field
  • Five or more years related experience and/or training
  • Certification in benefits or compensation (CBP, CCP, CEBS) highly desirable

MANAGEMENT:

This position has supervisory responsibilities of the Benefits Administrator.
