Senior Manager, Compensation

Summary:

The purpose of Slalom’s compensation program is to attract, motivate, reward, and retain the talented employees who drive Slalom’s success.

The Senior Manager, Compensation will work to elevate our compensation strategy to support Slalom’s continued growth, expansion, and competition for talent. This leader will work alongside their team to operationalize that strategy and ensure it is embraced across the organization. In order to fulfill the strategic and operational mandate for this role, this key HR leader will build a high performing team that will add to the bench strength of the compensation team.

Each Slalom office operates with a level of flexibility and autonomy that allows them to meet the unique needs of their clients, employees, and candidates. The Sr Manager, Compensation will have the opportunity to reimagine how Slalom’s compensation programs address the specific needs of each office and promotes scale as we grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leadership to design, plan, implement, and effectively communicate a compensation strategy and associated programs that support business objectives and are aligned across markets globally
  • Work with the CEO, President, the CHRO and Executive Leadership Team to ensure Slalom offers competitive compensation and administers these programs in an accurate and efficient manner allowing for flexibility at the local level
  • Ensure effective delivery and administration of quarterly and annual compensation cycles
  • Oversee compensation activities including but not limited to advising hiring managers, leaders, HRBPs, and Talent Acquisition teams on pay decisions, policy, and guideline interpretation
  • Prepare and present analyses, materials, and recommendations to senior leadership and the Compensation Committee[JK1] 
  • Engage effectively, proactively, and thoughtfully with Executive Team and Board of Directors
  • Provide leadership for Slalom’s job profile architecture, ensuring that all salary programs, and salary structures, have market pricing at their core and are aligned with Slalom’s overall philosophy including the recommendation of solutions to specific compensation-related issues
  • Build strong relationships with market leaders to help connect compensation efforts and provide consistency across locations
  • Partner with Senior Manager, Benefits to ensure Slalom’s compensation programs contribute to a strong, competitive total rewards strategy
  • Collaborate closely with Finance to ensure thorough analysis of cost/savings of any changes under consideration as well as timely and accurate reporting
  • Work closely with Finance, Payroll, and Legal to develop and administer robust internal monitoring and reporting systems
  • Lead in a manner that builds constructive and positive relationships while maintaining accountability and promoting delivery

Qualifications:

  • The ideal individual possess demonstrated program/project management skills (preferably with global expansion experience), and has/is:

  • Worked in a fast-paced global environment
  • Energized by working on high-profile projects
  • Comfortable influencing across functions and levels

  • In addition, he/she has a passion for business growth, process and operational improvement; is customer focused, and exhibits strong ownership and ability to quickly earn stakeholder trust.
  • The following skills/experience are critical for this role’s success:
  • At least 10 years of experience in HR, finance, or consulting, demonstrating increasing responsibility over compensation. At least five years of experience in senior leadership positions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and resourcefulness to seek and find the information you need to succeed
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on a multitude of issues related to compensation plans and programs
  • Capability in planning and priority setting; ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working towards strict deadlines
  • Strong project management skills
  • Comfort with difficult discussions around deadlines, project goals, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation functions and general processes
  • Strong problem solving skills and judgment
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and trends
  • Strong analytical and data management skills including proficiency with MSOffice applications particularly with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to Influence stakeholders by building trust and credibility.
  • BA or BS required, or equivalent related work experience
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Certifications in compensation with SHRM, World at Work, or from other HR or Finance credentialing organizations
  • Experience with Workday, or other compensation tools
  • Experience managing compensation programs in non-US markets
  • Prior experience working in a professional services environment
  • Experience working with high level stakeholders
